This machine tool is specifically designed for deep-hole machining and is primarily capable of performing drilling, boring, reaming, roll-pressing, and contour milling on the internal bores of large-diameter cylindrical heavy-duty parts. During machining, the workpiece rotates at low speed while the cutting tool rotates at high speed and feeds axially; in addition to through-holes, it can also machine stepped holes, blind holes, and other configurations.

This machine tool is specifically designed for deep-hole machining and is primarily capable of performing drilling, boring, reaming, roll-pressing, and contour milling on the internal bores of large-diameter cylindrical heavy-duty parts. During machining, the workpiece rotates at low speed while the cutting tool rotates at high speed and feeds axially; in addition to through-holes, it can also machine stepped holes, blind holes, and other configurations. This machine tool allows flexible selection of machining processes based on actual requirements, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
During drilling, the machine tool employs the BTA internal chip evacuation process, in which a lubricator supplies high-pressure cutting fluid that entrains and carries away the chips through the internal bore at the tail end of the drill rod. For boring, a push-boring process is used: cutting fluid is delivered to the cutting zone either via the lubricator (through a small-diameter nozzle) or directly through the tail end of the boring bar (via a large-diameter passage), providing cooling and lubrication while simultaneously flushing the cutting zone and conveying the chips forward toward the headstock end. For reaming, an external chip evacuation configuration is adopted, requiring the use of dedicated reaming tools, tool holders, and specialized workholding fixtures to achieve effective chip removal.
The T2180 deep-hole drilling and boring machine is equipped with a spindle box that enables simultaneous dual rotation of both the workpiece and the cutting tool, or independent single-axis operation, thereby accommodating diverse machining process requirements. By significantly reducing the workpiece rotational speed—where high-speed rotation is unsuitable—it effectively enhances machining efficiency while improving machining accuracy and quality.
The machine tool employs a heavy-duty four-jaw chuck at the headstock for workpiece clamping, with center support and hydraulic thrust from the oil distributor to securely hold the workpiece. The oil distributor features a spindle-type design, significantly enhancing load-bearing capacity and improving rotational accuracy. The machine bed exhibits high rigidity, excellent wear resistance, and outstanding dimensional stability. Tool feed is driven by an AC servo system that enables stepless speed regulation. The headstock gearbox is powered by a DC motor with infinitely variable speed control, while the drill spindle gearbox is driven by a high-power motor with gear-shift speed selection. Workpiece clamping and securing via the oil distributor are both hydraulically actuated, with all operational parameters displayed on gauges, ensuring safe, quick, and stable workpiece setup and operation. The machine tool is controlled by a PLC and equipped with a user-friendly human–machine interface, fully reflecting the ease of operation.
