System Features
We can process seamless cold-drawn tubes, welded cold-drawn tubes, hot-rolled steel pipes, and cast steel pipes.
The dimensions of the cutting tool, guide block, and burnishing mechanism can be adjusted separately, conveniently, and rapidly. After machining is completed, hydraulic control causes the scraping tool holder, guide block, and burnishing section to retract synchronously, enabling the entire system to quickly withdraw while ensuring that the machined surface remains undamaged.
Employing a highly efficient patented tooling design, this system integrates five sequential processes—rough boring, finish boring, rough scraping, finish scraping, and roll finishing—into a three-stage machining sequence. It enables the complete machining of large-material-removal steel tubes in a single setup, significantly boosting productivity: more than 20 times that of conventional honing and 5 to 10 times that of standard deep-hole boring machines—while also delivering longer tool life.
After machining, the surface hardness of the product increases by approximately 30%. Dimensional accuracy can reach IT80 or higher, and surface roughness can be as low as Ra 0.05–0.2 µm. This enhances mating accuracy, reduces wear, and extends component service life. For hydraulic cylinders, roll finishing improves corrosion resistance and wear resistance, producing a mirror-smooth surface that prolongs the service life of seals and sealing elements.
Processing method
The system’s front end features a rough-boring head equipped with three sets of precision indexable inserts and three sets of carbide guide blocks. The rough-boring head is primarily used to remove the vast majority of the stock material, followed by a floating skiving head fitted with three sets of six precision skiving inserts. This skiving head is designed to reduce or eliminate waviness and dimensional errors on the surface resulting from previous machining operations on the internal bore. At the rear of the system is a burnishing head, which houses 6 to 40 roller elements that press against the inner wall of the cylinder, further smoothing the surface after skiving and producing a superior surface finish. Upon completion of machining, hydraulic control retracts the skiving inserts while simultaneously retracting the burnishing head, thereby preventing any scratching of the workpiece surface.
